It was with great regret that Wales were unable to attend the major event in the European Karate Calendar in 2010 as the WKGB decided there was no alternative but to withdraw from the event in Athens due to travel disruption and the unrest in Greece at the present time. Scotland also withdrew.Meanwhile England had a torrid time with no medals won, their best results being top 5 places for Katie Hurry in the Ladies Plus 68Kg category and Chris Harris in the Mens Minus 60Kg event. Europe's most successful champions continued to show their dominance as Italy's multiple European and World Kata Champion Luca Valdesi, again won, as did Azebaijan's Rafael Aghayev in the U75Kg Mens Kumite. Italy headed the medal table with Spain in second place and the hosts Greece in third. |
